Our Year in Review!

2024 has been a big year for all of us at Wobbles & Stomps. At the beginning of the year, we made three major decisions to help the animals in our care and those that were being abandoned, neglected, or worse across Arkansas.

For those who are just joining our journey, we began as fosters in rural Arkansas and quickly learned that as much as we wanted to help save them all, there are just too many animals and not enough caring humans. Our first decision was to scale down our fostering and focus on working with "medical cases" that needed a place to heal before finding their homes (that's how we ended up with #BamBamTheDozerMan). At that time, we still had the #TrashBagPups who are the faces of "Hard to Adopt" dogs, and a few other stragglers (like the bonded Husky Mixes, Liv and Maddie). On top of that, we had our own dogs, cats, and our true sanctuary animals like Wobbie, Toby, Anakin, and others.

Our second decision was to move the entire sanctuary to a new location with more land and less house to allow all of us a new and better perspective and more room to roam (at least outside!). With the Trash Pups and Huskies full grown at that time, we all needed more breathing room, so we had some fences built to create zones and created a new life for all of us.

Our third decision was to form a 501(c)3 in order to continue reaching out to help other animals with special needs, while giving our sanctuary animals the care and consideration they deserve.

By summer, we were all moved in and ready to enjoy the breathing room. Then, in our neighborhood Facebook group, we saw a photo of a giant, white husky mix with an enormous growth on his leg that had just wandered up to a house and nobody was claiming it. With the help of another person in the neighborhood, we were able to bring #BigBowie into the sanctuary... even if we weren't ready for another dog, one who would require a lot of medical care, and the antics of Bowie himself 😅

After that, we focused on our fundraising through Enchanted! events and the day-to-day care of the animals while working with our hard-to-adopt dogs on their manners and obedience training in-order-to keep them IN a home whenever that magical adoption day happens, and we believe it will.

Finally, as summer ended and the leaves began to change, we once again were faced with a situation we couldn't ignore: Buttons and Bows. A photo of two young dogs caught our eye, not that it was anything special (we see abandoned dogs 24/7), but one had a bloody stump where its foot should have been. We posted about the dogs to see if anyone could help, and got no response. We slept on it, hoping that others had the resources to step in. Finally, the next morning, we contacted the person who had posted the situation and through the help of several rescuers and rescues in the area, we were able to provide the hands-on care needed for Buttons and Bows to heal and feel safe again.

And last, but not least, are the kittens in our care. #SlimShadyCat came to us from yet another Facebook post (maybe we should stay off of Facebook...) and our bottle babies, #SabrinaTheKitten and #SalemTheSpiderMonkey, were the result of a trade gone wrong (but, we wouldn't change it!), and our sassypants #ThirteenTheBlackCat (kitten) who is our only Witness Protection cat this year.

We could NOT have done any of this without our incredible friends, supporters, cheerleaders, and donors. We are so grateful to you and all of the help we have received as we navigate this world and focus on the future of animal welfare in Arkansas. As we move into a new year, we hope you will consider our efforts, follow our progress, and sharing our stories. Your donations, time, and love mean everything to us and the animals we serve. Happy New Year!
